Everything you need to know about bottleneck 2020

You have heard a lot About Bottleneck, Especially if you are an extreme gamer or someone who has to do a lot with high-end Pc performance. There are a lot of confusion about bottlenecking and that’s why we are here to provide you a detailed guide on bottlenecking.

Complete Guide on CPU GPU bottlenecking

Also, we would provide you with a solution as well. Ok so if you are looking to buy a good gaming pc with a  limited budget, don’t rush to buying a good graphic card because here is where bottlenecking comes into play.

A graphic card is indeed one of the most important things for high graphics especially for pro gamers, but Only good graphic cards cant be an option. Yes your guess is right all this thing is known as Bottleneck. Still confused ?? Keep calm and read on. I will explain it all.

What Is BOTTLENECK?

The word “Bottleneck” can be elaborated as the fluid will flow much slower the neck of the bottle than it would if that neck didn’t exist. Another word for the Bottleneck is a choke point.

For understanding, I will briefly quote an example. A bottleneck is just like trying to fix the engine of Bugatti in a body of a normal 120 horsepower car. In this case, the engine won’t be able to show its performance which could perform in The Body of a Bugatti. Why is it so? Because of body shape, parts, tires, and some other factors as well.

Let’s take it back to a Pc or technical point of view. Assume that you have a Pc, let’s say you take some 3rd generation computer and hoping it’s even compatible you put the very latest thousand dollar graphics cards in it in the pc is not going to slow down, and honestly, gaming performance will probably be improved, but that card won’t reach its potential even though the new card might be ten times faster than the old one you may only get a very small performance increase because the CPU, memory, potentially other components are so slow that they cant feed the graphics card data at a fast enough to keep it busy.

So it’s just sitting there most of the time in that example of the bottlenecking those funds could have been put to better use on a more modest all-around system upgrade which would have achieved better performance in gaming and in other applications at the same time.

So it will not be smart to spend most of your budget on GPU. Well, you should research a lot before going to buy a gaming pc, and you should always buy a balanced Pc of which components(CPU, GPU, Memory, etc.) should support each other.

What Is CPU BOTTLENECK?

Well, The thing about BOTTLENECK That there is a bottleneck in your pc most of the time. It might be CPU Bottleneck, GPU Bottleneck, or even in-game engine. The most common out it is TheCPU Bottleneck. It happens because of the excessive load on Cpu while your GPU and other components are nearly resting. Let’s take a look at it that why it happens and how it can be avoided and improved overall.

The CPU bottleneck happens because you have High-end GPU and memory, you forgot to upgrade your Cpu, now you feels bad and doing it on purpose. I am joking..!! It happens because you have spent most of the budget on GPU and memory, and Cpu is still the same. Which causes a load on the CPU, and that basically causes a bottleneck.

The new card might be strong to be compatible with a ten times faster than the old because the CPU and memory and potentially other components are so slow that they cant feed the graphics card data fast enough to keep it busy, so it’s just sitting there. Because the Graphic card Will is rendering graphic at a  faster rater than  CPU So here is how the CPU Bottleneck occurs.

The CPU bottleneck also depends on the game or software which you are running at the pc. Some of the games are memory intensive, and some are CPU intensive. Games Like

  • Grand Theft Auto 5.
  • Far Cry 5.
  • Assassin’s Creed Origins.
  • Civilization 6.
  • Cities: Skylines.

Are Extremely Cpu intensive games, which means these games use CPU more than GPU.So here the CPU Bottleneck will be most likely to be observed.

What Is GPU BOTTLENECK?

GPU bottleneck is something similar to CPU bottleneck, but here its the opposite of the CPU bottleneck. It’s not that common because its a fact that most of the Gamers spend more money on GPUs than on CPU, so it is rarely observed. But in some cases, the GPU Bottleneck occurs, and let’s have a look at it.

I hope you are smart enough to predict the GPU bottleneck If you have understood the CPU bottleneck, But let me elaborate it as well for some of the simple minded persons like me.

So this when your pc GPU is used to its maximum while the CPU is not that much used. For some gamers, it’s not a bad thing that most of the graphics are rendered by Your GPU, and your pc  CPU usage is less but it really depends on the choice of the gamer.

Again, It also depends on which sort of game or software you are running on your PC because some of the games are GPU intensive. Which means they use more GPU than CPU.

Here are some of them.

  • Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.
  • Battlefield V.
  • Far Cry 5.
  • Forza Horizon 4.
  • The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Your Graphics Card will Go Wild.
  • Shadow of the Tomb Raider

How to Figure Out Bottleneck in your Pc?

There are many ways to find the Bottleneck in your pc. But most of them require software that looks at the detail of your pc while you are playing a game or running any software on it. The software is Complete of your choice with which you are more comfortable. Here are some of them.

MSI Afterburner: MSI Afterburner is a handy overclocking utility for MSI graphics cards. Main features include GPU/Shader/Memory clock adjustment, advanced fan speed and GPU voltage control. And The below video you can learn how to use it.

How to Fix/Reduce CPU bottleneck :

There isn’t a way that can Completely End the Bottleneck but you can decrease it to the minimum level possible buy overclocking and increasing the graphics settings.

The first thing is must know that your PC is affected by which kind of bottleneck it maybe Of CPU, GPU, and Maybe of RAM The solution varies with the problem. Now If you have figured out the type of bottle neck lets move on.

First of all, When you play the game before that just take a look at the task manager or look at the processes that are going on in the background and close them because they will cause to drain extra resources from your CPU, GPU, Ram, and HDD.So this is a quick tip.

Well, as you know that its CPU bottleneck then now you can do some steps to make it lowest. First, try to increase the graphic setting. Sounds Awkward? Let me explain it to you.

By Increasing the Graphic the graphic card will have to work more on a single frame and it will take more time than if you play in low graphics and more time means fewer cells from the graphic card to CPU at the end which causes less load on the CPU. Increasing your game graphic setting means Turning On Anti-Analysing, Increasing the resolution, or try to play at High graphics.

The other solution you can do is try overclocking of CPU but keep in mind that overclocking doesn’t cause your CPU to get extra heated up which will decrease the life span of your CPU.

Well your GPU Bottleneck can be solved by decreasing the resolution and graphics of the game what it will do that the GPU will have to work less on a single frame and will send it to CPU and like this the Bottleneck will be Shared A bit.

IF you already have decreased the graphics of the game Then you can do is Overclock the GPU but make sure you have enough resources to do so. Overclocking especially of GPUs can really affect your card’s life span.

Well If you have a Memory(RAM) bottleneck then the only solution is to buy more Ram and while buying there are many things you should keep in mind too.

Conclusion
If you really want your PC to stay away from Bottleneck then you should be smart enough when you are buying your system. Try to buy a system which is balanced. Balanced Gaming PC means to try to spend your hard money wisely and try to build a pc that supports it others components as well.

Don’t spend more money just to get one extreme and else all extremely low because of this the extreme part won’t be able to show its actual performance. For good performance, you should get a good Balanced Pc.

Hope So this article helped you, you can share your bottlenecking problems or anything that I missed in comments I will surely reply to them all!!
